Has Anyone Ever Heard of the Band Radiohead?

so i got my good ol' Rolling Stone in the mail today, and besides all of the left winged liberalism (which i love but not in my damn music mag) they delivered an amazing Radiohead interview. Which led me to recapture some of their glory, by what else COVERS!! Ok don't get me wrong, i will be the first to tell you how much i DESPISE john mayer, but he delivered an unbelievably good cover, of the title track from perhaps radiohead's best album (?) "kid a." Wow, he seems the type to do like creep or high and dry, but no, he actually did a somewhat miniscule song from that album, i'm impressed, but he's still no damn guitar god...
Out of all the covers i have, i'm only posting two, because i'm not that impressed with all of the other ones. But this Vampire Weekend cover of "Exit Music" from THE BEST radiohead album "OK Computer," is very well done. And the last...out of all radiohead songs, "Fake Plastic Trees" has probably been covered the most. But in my opinion, none of them match up to the simply beautiful live acoustic version performed by the thom and johnny alone. Your Welcome.

john mayer - kid a (radiohead cover)
vampire weekend - exit music (for a film) (radiohead cover)
radiohead - fake plastic trees (acoustic)

Yada Yada Yada...

so the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are hard at work on a new album, hopefully do out later this year, but i'm not getting my hopes up. Anyways, i have two remixes, one i really like, which is a Faint remix, and the other is a Diplo remix, both decent, but i've heard better.
And the third song, is an old song that i rediscovered because of a stupid Geico commercial. But still amazingggg....when you play it, you will know it immediately. i promise.
hope your weekend went well everyone.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Y Control (the faint remix)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion (diplo remix)
Röyksopp - Remind Me

Coachella etc.

so Coachella was announced the other day, and i must say i'm not very impressed. But i will def go to one night, i'm just not sure. Night 1 has a few i wanna see, Night 2 has hot chip! but Night 3 has justice!!
how can i decide??
Anyways, i'm back to posting a lot more...i've just had a lot to deal with lately...Both of these songs are great covers by great bands. No more sad music for the time being. The first band, i would KILL to see at coachella, and the other i wouldn't mind seeing either. Klaxons, singing the old blackstreet song, "no diggity," absolutely hilarious! and the other, by the arctic monkeys, is a fabulous strokes cover.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Arctic Monkeys - Take It Or Leave It (The Strokes Cover)

No Sleep

so for the 6th day straight, i haven't been able to sleep. I just don't know what to do. I try to sleep, but i just lay there for hours. So i've just given up.
Here are probably the last slow songs i am going to post for awhile. They are beautiful, and about relationships...enjoy.

Michael Cera and Ellen Page - Anyone Else But You
Damien Rice - Creep (Radiohead Cover)
Jon Solo - Blue Light (Bloc Party Cover)

Made In The Dark

Hot Chip's new album, "Made in the Dark" doesn't come out until the first week of february, but i have been lucky enough to get an advanced copy, and so far so good. So far it is not necessarily as catchy as 2006's "The Warning," but far more intimate, and beautiful. The song i am posting is the title track from the album, and you will see what i mean, no synth or electro beat, but simply a piano and a limited drum beat. Highly recommended.
Looks like another saturday movie night for me. Happy Saturday everyone.

Hot Chip - Made in The Dark (advance) (sorry download limit reached)

Friday Night Alone...

how sad... its friday night and i am just sitting at home...i hope this isn't a regular thing...
well anyways no one hates the foo fighters more then myself, although dave grohl is a somewhat fine musician, i find his music mainly not listenable. Except for his live show, i find his live music way better sounding then produced studio music, as seen here with his cover of The Arcade Fire's "Keep the Car Running." Of course i would rather hear the real band sing this live, but this is a surprisingly good version of the epic song from "Neon Bible. I also use this song as motivation, as i need to keep my car running if you know what i mean.
Also, the Foo Fighters music sounds better when other people sing it, as the hit "Best of You" is performed live by London group Stereophonics. Very nicely done.
Have a nice weekend everybody.

Foo Fighters - Keep the Car Running (Arcade Fire Cover)

Stereophonics - Best of You (Foo Fighters Cover)

I'm kind of running out of sad music to post...

haaaa...i usually just listen to electronic music, but lately with all that has been going on in my life, acoustic is just the way to go. So here are two completely unrelated covers of none other then Tom Petty, because Tom Petty reminds me of someone special right now. Happy Friday everyone, go out and do something fun, don't just sit at home like i probably will...
The first download is a great cover of my favorite Tom Petty song by Johnny Cash, and the other is my other favorite Tom Petty song done live by Death Cab for Cutie with the help of Mates of State. The quality isn't great, but you still love it at first hear.

Wow...I'm Speechless

After going through one of the most devastating experiences of my life last night, and after all the tears dried up, today was just as bad, if not worse then yesterday. Fuck, i am in ruins...honestly...i feel really emo right now haha but i'm sorry, just skip this and download the music if you dont care...
RIP - grandpa... you will be missed

ok...so anyways...
i've gotten a lot of positive feedback on the radiohead smiths cover, well if you didnt know they have been releasing a lot of covers from their webcast, you can watch their webcast on their website, or on youtube. Here is a wonderful Joy Division cover, although technically its a New Order song, but nevertheless, its great typical radiohead.

radiohead - ceremony (new order cover) (z share)

i've been listening to mainly folk and slow music the past couple days, and i came upon this absolutely spectacular cover of the arcade fire song "ocean of noise" by folk artists Calexico (picture above). Download this, i guarantee you will like it, it is beautiful.
AHH i can't sleep! i have too much on my minddd shitttt.

Calexico - Ocean of Noise (Arcade Fire Cover) (z share)

Last Night Was The Worst Night Of My Life....

with that said, i feel very emo (scratches wrists)
i feel like posting some happy music, because maybe it will put me in a better mood...you think its working? (nopeeeee). Anyways...
The Teenagers are a greattttt band from both Paris and London. They released their full length debut album digitally, yesterday. And i was very quick to pick it up. This single is hilarioussss, all three guys have an obsession with Scarlett Johansson, it came out a few months ago, but im putting it up now because the album just came out. Also, for you Tom Cruise haters, i have another song, which has absolutely no words and nothing to do with tom cruise, but the title of the song is enough, an overall great electronic song, and band, more from them soon.

The Teenagers - Starlett Johansson (z share)

Black Russians - Tom Cruise Is A Gay Scientologist (z share)

Some beautiful electronic-ish

the toxic avenger...amazing what this man accomplished in 2007 without a full length lp out. Kind of made me mad because Rolling Stone called him one to watch, when really he has released not nearly enough to be called that. I guess i'll have to wait till he releases a full length to make that judgement. Here i have one sickkkkk cover and one remix...

the toxic avenger - song 2 (blur cover) (z share)
the toxic avenger - escape (bloody beetroots remix) (z share)

Then there is Danger, who released his ep called 9/14/07. This is a SPECTACULAR album, and not just because the album is titled my birthday...here is one song, but i have a lot more, if i am persuaded then i can just post more. And what do you know, he's FRENCH!
Danger - 14h54 (z share)

oh that thom yorke...

so word is, radiohead is coming around to la this year, and NOT playing coachella? thats interesting... i think i would see them at coachella, but prob not by themselves...

but anyways they released a sick smiths cover....this came out a couple months ago, but this is the first i've heard it.

radiohead - the headmaster ritual (smiths cover)

download this...for free!

I totally jacked this from Pitchfork...but well worth it!

Arcade Fire's Win Butler Disses Hillary, Backs Obama

It's not often Win Butler-- or indeed any member of the Arcade Fire-- takes to his cutely-animated "Scrapbook" section on the band's website to wax thoughtful. The last time he did so was after the Fire wrapped up a rigorous season of touring with that dream bill blowout at NYC's Randall's Island in early October.

Yet something drew Butler out of blogging semi-retirement here in mid-January, just as his Neon Bible-mongers are about to descend on Australia and New Zealand. And that something, my friends, was politics.

It seems Win has a few reservations about the upcoming political contest in the U.S. (and being a native of Texas, he has every right to vent them). We'll let Butler explain in his own words:
I am watching Hillary Clinton in her victory speech in new Hampshire...they just threw a bunch of college kids behind her, and had her talk about student loans, and had her daughter come out for a long awkward hug...does anyone actually buy it? Surely young people are too media savvy to be fooled by this kind of shit.
do we live in a democracy so we can just keep electing the same families?
Barack is the first candidate in my lifetime to strip some of this bullshit away, and I just hope we don't blow this chance.
man if we miss this opportunity we don't deserve it...how bad does it have to get?

fuck!!!!!!!!!
Fuck, indeed. With this proclamation I think we can safely file Butler alongside fellow Obama-backers Jeff Tweedy, Conor Oberst, and the Cool Kids. (Not to mention Herbie Hancock, Will Smith, at least one Dixie Chick, and the guy who created craigslist, according to this.)

The Arcade Fire arrive in Auckland (without incident, let's hope) January 18, but it's those three post-Super Tuesday gigs in Japan fans may have to worry about if Win's pick doesn't pull through. Although when a guy named Win's backing you, well, perhaps that's just what you'll do.

First Post

yeah so this is my first post and i don't know what to say but this is pretty exciting. within a day or two, i will start posting music and political thought. If you don't care about one or the other, i'm sorry, but i don't want this to just be a music blog. But that's what it will probably turn out to be. haha.
